Q: WHO MADE THAT AMAZING BANNER!?!?!?!
A: Steve Patrick Adams is a hero and a Saint and you should hire him because he is also a pro! Check out his website HERE
Q: What is the Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival?
A: The Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival is an annual celebration of sketch comedy assembled by Le Nouveau International, a not-for-profit arts company that resides at Theatre Ste Catherine. Since its inception in 2006, the festival has welcomed over 130 troupes from all over the world.
Q: When and where will the festival be held?
A: The 12th edition of the festival will take place from May 4th to 13th, 2017. Many of our shows and workshops take place at Theatre Saint-Catherine Café Bar but in 2017 we also have shows at Montreal Improv, Mainline Theatre and Comedyworks!
Q: What kinds of groups/shows are you looking for?
A: All kinds! From veteran sketch troupes to absolute beginners, we’d love to see what you’ve got to offer. Whether you’re local, from the other side of the world, performing in French, English, or without language, we’re into it.
Q: If I submit my troupe, are we guaranteed entry to the festival?
A: Each submission will be considered, but only the most convincing will be granted entry into the festival. We try to take as many groups as we can, and we add shows every year, however we cannot guarantee that all troupes will be granted entry to the festival.
Q: Why do you have a $20 submission fee?
A: This helps offset the cost of the festival. We have done our best to keep it as low as possible – and to cover the cost of artists getting into all the shows for FREE (unless the show is sold out). And remember, if you get chosen to perform, you become eligible for all of our various prizes, which means you could take home piles and piles of cold hard ca$h.
Q: What is the submission deadline?
A: The submission deadline has now passed. Look out for the call for applications for the 2018 fest in December of 2017.
Q: Who is Le Nouveau International? WHO ARE YOU?
A: Le Nouveau International is a non-profit arts organization focused on performance, officially founded in 2009, though its productions were performed as early as 2001. Check out everything about us here.
Q: How do I get involved?
A: We need volunteers so very badly! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org – we promise you fun and good timez. As a patron? Buy a pass, individual tickets to our 2017 shows will be available the first week of April or just show up on any day of the festival and come see something hilarious.
Q: When will your 2017 lineup be announced?
A: At a FREE live event at Theatre Sainte-Catherine on March 30th, starting at 6PM. Just come!
Q: Still have more questions?
A: Great – Send them to email@example.com.
